Point Lookout sketches, 1864.

One volume consisting of 42 watercolor drawings of life in the prisoner of war camp, in 1864, made by one of the Confederate prisoners, probably John T. Omenhausser, picturing many camp scenes, particularly the various forms of private enterprise and diversion, and relations with African American guards. Many of the drawings include a "bubbles" with dialogue taking place between prisoners and guards. The volume was bound in 1880, by James Barnes, whose father was the prison commandant. Included in the volume as front matter are two letters to Andrew Johnson; General Orders, No. 45 and 25; engraving of Brig. Gen. James Barnes; 1 b&w photograph of prisoners taking the oath of allegiance to the Union; 1 b&w photograph of Brig. Gen. James Barnes and his staff; and 1 map of hospital and military prison at Point Lookout.
